Pacific House, Historic Restoration

PIEDMONT, CA ~
Extensive Changes

This large home in Piedmont was originally built in the late 1800s and is situated on a knoll with views from three sides of the house over the entire San Francisco Bay.

Many years before, the house had been remodeled to be used as an all-girls boarding school, and as a result had had larger rooms cut into a myriad of small bedrooms. Bathrooms had been added ad-hoc and much of the historic detailing had been removed or covered up in an effort to avoid costly repairs.

During the course of construction, it was almost entirely deconstructed and reconfigured. This is an example a non-traditional historic restoration.

Completed 1999.
